Homeschool Days: Building Structures
March 21 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am$14.00
How can bridges span huge distances and remain standing? Learn about those structural (civil) engineering principles while building bridges with the Structural Engineering. Structural engineers use their knowledge of physics, material properties, and geometrical shapes to design structures of sufficient strength and stability— maximizing safety while minimizing cost and the risk of structural failure.
- Learn about basic structural elements including columns, beams, trusses, plates, arches, shells, catenary, and about the strength and stiffness of materials •Explore forces acting on structural components including tension, compression, shear, and bending
- Experiment with different types of bridges such as the truss bridge, arch bridge, cantilever bridge, rope bridge, and suspension bridge
At Imagination Station, we believe that live, in-person instruction and hands-on learning play an important role in a child’s education. Homeschool Days are designed to serve you with programs that interest your students and supplement your great work at home with them.
Registration required. An adult must remain with students under age 14 throughout the program. Parents receive complimentary admission when accompanying a paid registration for Homeschool Days. In the event of additional visitors aged 2 and above, regular admission fee of $6 will apply. Doors will open at 9:15am.
