Imagination Station will open its doors free of charge on Saturday September 26, 2015, as part of Smithsonian magazine's eleventh annual Museum Day Live! On this day only, participating museums across the United States emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Instituion's Washington DC-based facilities, which offer free admission everyday, and open their doors for free to those who download a Museum Day Live! ticket. Follow the link at the bottom of this page to download and print your ticket.

Inclusive by design, the event represents Smithsonian's commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone. Last year's event drew over 400,000 participants and this year's event is expected to attract more museum goers than ever before.

To celebrate Museum Day Live!, two programs are scheduled for free at Imagination Station in Wilson:

Meet the Animals!

At 10:00 am all visitors will have the opportunity to meet our animals who live on the 2nd floor of the museum. One of our educators will bring out several of our animals to introduce them and explain a little bit about what makes each species unique. Our animals include insects, reptiles and mammals, both native and invasive species. All of our animals came to us because they needed a safe environment to call home.

Meet the Bees!

At 11:00 am all visitors are invited to meet our honey bees who live on the 1st floor of the museum. Our resident honey bee expert will describe the work of honey bees and how their hive lives. She will also be available to answer questions about how you can help the honey bees flourish in our community. Honey bees are essential to thriving gardens, blossoming flowers and abundant crops. Come learn how these small, gentle insects provide so much.

To attend these great programs and explore all 3 floors of exhibits for FREE, You will need to download, print and bring with you a ticket which admits 2 people. Visit the Smithsonian magazine website here to download your ticket now.
